"This age is coming to an end, not the world, but the age is ending, listen to the astrological message I'm sending." - KRS-ONE

Luke 22:10 "Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water follow him into the house which he enters."

"To everything (turn turn turn) there is a season (turn, turn, turn) and a time to every purpose under heaven." - The Byrds

Surprisingly, my initial introduction to topics such as astrotheology and the precession of the equinoxes did not occur in private school or college. Of all the possible sources for learning about the arcane and the occult, who would have guessed it would be through Hip-hop music? Yet, it was indeed through Hip-hop that I first encountered what I can only describe as very obscure subject matter, as early as 1997.

If my memory is accurate, it was the year 1997 when I first came across these forward-thinking teachings while listening to rap legend and icon KRS-ONE's album I Got Next. It was on a particular song called Fourth Quarter: Free Throws that KRS-ONE rapped about a topic that seemed unusual at the time but would align well with today's age of Aquarius. He was discussing the multidimensional ways to interpret the Bible.

KRS suggested that if the Bible is interpreted allegorically, it narrates the journey of the son/sun as it moves through the various houses of the zodiac. Each zodiac house represents a different tale of the son/sun. For instance, when the sun is in Pisces, it is symbolized by the fish or fishermen. Consider how Christ and the disciples were "fishers of men." It is said that Jesus fed the multitude with "two fish." Is this to be taken literally or symbolically? When the sun enters the house of Scorpio or Sagittarius, it is about to be betrayed and killed. The Scorpion's sting from behind mirrors Judas' kiss to Christ from behind in the painting Le Baiser de Judas by French painter and possible Freemason Thomas Couture.

Following Scorpio/Scorpion and Sagittarius, the sun is destined to be reborn in a stable or manger when it enters the house of Capricorn in December. Before it was known as the house of Capricorn, this zodiac constellation was called the Augean Stable. Consider this: a manger is essentially a stable. This is the same Augean Stable that Hercules had to clean as one of his twelve labors. Interestingly, Hercules shares many traits with another strong figure, the Biblical Samson. It's more than coincidence that both slay lions, and Samson's name translates to "sun." This aligns perfectly with the sun's journey through the twelve zodiac signs, Hercules' twelve labors, and Christ having twelve disciples. It all connects to the concept of astrotheology, where the story of the sun is embedded in allegorical narratives. December also marks the Winter Solstice, or the birth of the sun. The solstices and equinoxes form what some in the esoteric community call the cross of the zodiac, suggesting that the sun is crucified on this cross and then reborn. This is what KRS-ONE alluded to when he said, "stop believing and read your bible logically, the New Testament is really old astrology." I would add that this concept also applies to the Old Testament. The 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 brothers of Joseph correspond to the sun passing through the twelve months or zodiac signs. The celebration of Passover is the sun crossing the equator during the Vernal Equinox.

It's quite fascinating because if you look back at the 70s and 80s when Hip-hop was emerging, and even today in some jazz circles (like Marsalis and Crouch), many might find it difficult to recognize Hip-hop as an art form. My response to that has always been that they are listening to the wrong kind of Hip-hop. One could argue that Hip-hop can easily compete with, and in many ways even surpass, the remarkable artistic movement known as the Harlem Renaissance. While I admire the poetry of Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, Claude McKay, and other Harlem Renaissance figures, equivalents or even superiors can be found within Hip-hop culture. An example of this is the brilliance of Hip-hop philosopher KRS-ONE, whose ideas align with those of lesser-known esoteric thinkers and some conspiracy theorists like Jordan Maxwell, Acharya S, and others. In fact, KRS-ONE's views on this topic can be traced back to one of the lesser-known Founding Fathers of the United States, Thomas Paine. British-born Thomas Paine wrote in an article titled "The Origins of Freemasonry":

"The christian religion and Masonry have one and the same common origin: both are derived from the worship of the Sun. The difference between their origin is, that the christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun, and pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the Sun"

Keep in mind, this is the same Thomas Paine who authored the highly influential pamphlet Common Sense, which was one of the first intellectual arguments for American colonists to seek independence from England during the Revolutionary War. Paine's words in Common Sense directly influenced Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence. KRS-ONE's song 4th Quarter: Free Throws not only explores allegory and astrotheology, but also, in my opinion, an equally intriguing concept that deserves more attention: the precession of the equinoxes. This concept was known to many ancient civilizations worldwide, including the Egyptians, Greeks, Indians, and Mayans. The Greeks referred to it as the Great Year, the Egyptians called it Zep Tepi, the Hindus knew it as the Yuga cycle, and the Maya described these ages as suns. Researcher Walter Cruttenden and the Binary Research Institute have done an excellent job explaining the meaning of this somewhat obscure concept, the precession of the equinoxes, below.

To grasp the concept of the precession of the equinoxes, one must first understand that the Earth undergoes three significant cycles. The first cycle is the most evident: the Earth completes a full rotation, or "turn," in 24 hours. This 24-hour cycle can be easily described as 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness, corresponding to day and night. The next major cycle we all recognize is the 365 days it takes for the Earth to orbit the sun. As the Earth orbits, it moves through the 12 monthly constellations of the Zodiac, and this orbiting also results in the four seasons we experience. The primary focus of this blog post is the third major cycle, known as the precession of the equinoxes. It is common knowledge that the Earth spins or wobbles on its axis. It takes approximately 24,000-26,000 years for the Earth to complete a full wobble on its axis, and this very slow, wobbly spin is referred to as the precession of the equinoxes.

What is the esoteric meaning for the fish being an early symbol of Christianity? The common answer is that Jesus was a fisher of men, but is there more to the story?

As the Earth rotates on its axis, it gradually moves retrograde through the 12 major zodiac signs. This movement is very slow, taking 2000 years for the Earth to transition from one zodiac sign to the next. For the past 2000 years, during the Spring Equinox, the Earth with the sun in the background was in the zodiac sign of Pisces. During this period, Christianity emerged as the dominant religious institution, which is why the early Christian symbol was the fish. This connection is also highlighted by KRS-ONE, who noted the abundant fish symbolism in the Bible, such as Christ feeding the multitude with two fish and Christ and his disciples being fishermen, or fishers of men. Each 2000-year period is referred to as an age.

The promotional poster for the movie 2012 inaccurately depicted the upcoming events, which primarily focus on astrological themes. The poster shows a Tibetan monk in the Himalayas surrounded by massive tidal waves as he calmly anticipates Earth's destruction. However, these scenes are far from reality.

Everyone recalls the Hollywood doomsday film 2012 and the anticipation surrounding the supposed end of the world. The issue with this type of apocalyptic thinking is that 2012 came and went, yet the world remains. It makes you question what all the unfounded excitement was about. The movie 2012 misinterpreted Mayan cosmology. When the ancient Mayans spoke of the end of the world or the end of the sun, they were actually referring to the conclusion of an era. The era that was ending was Pisces, and we are now in the next 2000-year period known as the Age of Aquarius. I once again refer to Hip-Hop legend KRS-ONE when he states:

"Truth is truth, whether or not you like me We are living now in the age of Pisces When Pisces is over, at the year two thousand When the Sun of God changes his house and Enters the Age of Aquarius"

Nubian Pharoah Taharqa reigned during the Age of Aries. Here Taharqa is the ram god Ammon.

Before the Age of Pisces, we must go back an additional 2000 years to the Age of Aries. During this period, the ram was the symbol for several major religions. In ancient Egypt, the ram god Ammon was highly revered at this time. When Alexander the Great conquered Egypt in the Age of Aries, he issued coins featuring images of himself with ram horns.

It was also during the Age of Aries when we see the birth of Judaism. It is at this exact time when the Jewish priest would blow the rams horn welcoming in the current age. Prior to the Age of Aries we were in the Age of Taurus.

Judaism was born during the Age of Aries that preceded the Age of Pisces. Here we presumably see a Jewish priest blowing the rams horn symbolic of the astrological age.

We are informed that Moses was angry with his people for worshipping the golden calf. Could the golden calf symbolize the old, outdated Age of Taurus being supplanted by the new Age of Aries? During the Age of Taurus, bull cults would have been prevalent globally.

This painting by Andrea Celesti, titled Moses Destroying the Golden Calf, dates back to 1681. Could this depict Moses ending the Age of Taurus to usher in the Age of Aries?

In Crete, depictions of the bull are prevalent. During this period, legends about the minotaur confined in a maze or labyrinth on the island of Crete begin to emerge. In the Middle East, particularly in Syria, bull cults devoted to the God Mithra start to appear. Many statues of Mithra depict him slaying the bull. This act of killing the bull is essential to usher in the Age of Aries, which followed the Age of Taurus.

Interestingly, in Syria, within the Mithraic religion, the god Mithra is depicted as slaying the bull, symbolizing the conclusion of the Age of Taurus and the beginning of a new era.

Contemporary bullfighting, which is popular in Spain, may be a continuation of the ancient bull slaying rituals practiced by Mithra worshippers and on the island of Crete.

Before the emergence of ancient Crete and the bull cult associated with Mithra worshippers, the Bull held significant popularity in the Nile Valley among the ancient Egyptians, who revered a bull deity called Apis. Apis was considered the offspring of the cow goddess Hathor. Indeed, Apis was among the earliest Egyptian animal deities to be worshipped. This veneration has solar or astrological significance, which is why a solar disk is depicted above Apis's head.

There was even an Egyptian running of the bulls ceremony called the running of the Apis bulls this sounds strangely similar to the running of the bulls celebration that takes place in modern day Spain.

This leads us to our modern era. When Christianity emerged during the Age of Pisces, we were transitioning from the Age of Aries. This is why there are two early symbols for Christianity: Christ is sometimes depicted as a lamb, representing Aries, and other times as a fish, representing Pisces.

Christ depicted as the son/sun, or as Aries the Ram/Lamb of God in stained glass.

Christ as the son/sun during the Age of Aries, or as the Lamb of God? From the catacombs of Rome.

This brings us to the present Age of Aquarius and its potential implications for humanity. Some individuals might worry that the conclusion of the Age of Pisces signifies the end of their cherished religion. However, I do not think this is the case; instead, we might witness some reforms and changes within religious institutions as we know them. A prime example of this is Pope Francis. Who would have imagined that a Catholic Pope would endorse the scientific theory of evolution? Pope Francis is also known for his progressive stance towards the LGBT community (referring to them as children of God) and for stating that he believes atheists can also be accepted into Heaven.

Some esoteric historians suggest that the Age of Pisces was characterized by significant deception within our institutions, encompassing not only religious establishments but also our colleges and universities. If Pisces was an era of deceit, then Aquarius will be a time of revelation. The traditional teaching of Western civilization as solely stemming from Greece and Rome is likely to undergo revisions. There will probably be greater emphasis on the substantial yet lesser-known cultural influences from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Did you really believe that Archimedes invented his screw, Phidias discovered phi, or that Pythagoras formulated his theorem independently? Most of these inventions were likely first discovered in nations populated by what we would today call people of color, only to be later rediscovered by the Greeks and Romans. In the Bible's Book of Ecclesiastes, there is a well-known saying: "there is nothing new under the sun." There is some truth to this.

It is also natural that if the Age of Pisces saw the suppression of women and feminine energy, the Age of Aquarius will witness the rise of women and the feminine principle. Consider all the women labeled as witches for preaching the same ideas as men. And what about the many goddesses worshipped in the civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome? I recall a time when both the masculine and feminine principles were equally revered together; for instance, think of Osiris and Isis, Zeus and Hera, or Jupiter and Juno. During the Age of Pisces, these goddesses were replaced by a singular male god, and the priestesses who taught in the temples were replaced by exclusively male pastors, rabbis, and imams during the Piscean Age. The Age of Aquarius is considered an ascending age on the Yuga wheel of enlightenment and awareness. Concepts and ideas that could have been deadly to discuss during the Age of Pisces (such as those of the Gnostics, Cathars, and Freemasons) can now be freely explored in the Age of Aquarius. Just consider that we are currently living in an age of technology and the internet, where all information is readily accessible at our fingertips.

The Age of Aquarius has indeed already commenced. Aquarius is symbolically depicted as the water bearer, who distributes water equally among all groups. Ideally, racism and unscientific notions like race, along with privileges that unjustly favored certain groups based on pseudo-science, should begin to diminish as minority groups and countries labeled as "Third World" start to experience the benefits of Aquarius's water. The concept of a real-life African "Wakanda" should not be beyond the realm of possibility during the Aquarian Age.

Naturally, change will not come easily, as transitioning from one age to another is always challenging. I can only imagine how, 2000 years from now, as we move from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Capricorn, adjustments will be necessary to face the challenges of that transition. Today, many will stubbornly cling to the old order of the Piscean Age, especially those unfamiliar with astrology or the precession of the equinoxes. Transitioning to the New Age will be difficult for them. Many heterosexual males, particularly alpha males, may feel anxious. They might fear losing power in the Age of Aquarius, but I believe this perspective is incorrect. Men will not be losing power; rather, they will be sharing it. I anticipate significant changes in the political landscape, with more women in the House and Senate, as well as in influential positions such as Head of State, not only in the United States but globally. The Age of Aquarius will undoubtedly be a favorable time for women, as they will see increased opportunities. However, it is also a good time for men, but only if they can foresee the age and the changes ahead.
